We recently went to “Cirque Shanghai: Dragon’s Thunder” at the Navy Pier® Pepsi® Skyline Stage and totally loved it! Not only were both my kids captivated by it, my husband and I kept looking at each other in awe and disbelief! Besides all the jaw dropping acrobatics and stunts from last year (which were completely amazing- check out the review here) they added “The Chinese Flex Bar,” “Gravity Swings,” and traditional Chinese “Dragon Drums,” which definitely add to the show experience.
The Navy Pier® Pepsi® Skyline Stage as the venue was so enjoyable too! It’s an open air theater with an overhead canopy and all of the seats are great. It’s a perfect place to take kids to see Cirque Shanghai because they can sit fairly close to all of the exciting tumbling, juggling, balancing and beautiful costumes of the performers! Also, there is a parking garage that is connected to the theater area as well as a food court very close by, which makes it really convenient.
“Cirque Shanghai: Dragon’s Thunder” is going to have an additional performance on Thursday, July 4, with performances at 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. So you can go to the show and stay for the Navy Pier July 4 fireworks celebration, which begins at 9pm. The performances on Wednesday, July 3 will be performed according to the regular schedule at 2, 6 and 8 p.m.
The show runs through September 2, 2013 (Labor Day) rain or shine, at the Navy Pier® Pepsi® Skyline Stage, the 1,500-seat, canopied, open-air theater on Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand Ave. Tickets are $15.50 – $29.50 and are available via Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com/shanghai.
